Shirodhara Therapy

This is the most popular and relaxing treatment in Ayurveda. It is one of the excellent therapies for the treatment of several disease connected with head, neck, nose, throat and nervous system. Its threptic utility for giving cure to whom is suffering from long standing insomnia. It is consisted on medicated oil, milk, herbal decotions, coconut water or butter milk poured continuously in a thin stream on the forehead between the eyebrows. Shirodhara is a simple, but profund, treatment that works specifically on balancing and stabilizing mental activity. According to the pouring system, the main types are:

Thailadhara: oil

Ksheeradhara: milk

Kashayadhara: herbal decotions

Jaladhara: coconut water

Takradhara: butter milk

Although the commonly used is oil, the application of each treatment is according to dosha and one’s needs. This ancient technique, Shirodhara is meant to be maintained at a certain rhythmic speed while awakening the third eye (ajna chakra). Vast and miraculous healing occurs when it is performed to perfection. The rhythm of the continuous stream trickling onto the third eye, which is the seat of our cognitive vision, evokes deep cognitive memories. Through the arousal of these memories, bodily tissues are transformed, a total state of wellness is induced and the participant will be led to a deep inner journey.
